A Personalized Approach to growth
Thoughtful Individualized Care that
Strengthens the Whole Family
Personalized Strategies
No two children or families are alike. That's why every recommendation is thoughtfully tailored to your child's unique strengths, developmental profile, and your family's priorities. Our strategies are designed to fit naturally into your everyday routines, making them practical, meaningful, and sustainable.
Evidence-Based Practices
At Thrive Family Collaborative, every recommendation is grounded in current research, clinical expertise, and the unique strengths, needs, and priorities of your child and family. We integrate developmental science, relationship-centered care, and evidence-based behavior analysis to create practical, individualized strategies that are meaningful, effective, and sustainable in everyday life.
Relational Health Focus
We believe that nurturing relationships are the foundation of healthy development. Responsive, trusting connections between children and their caregivers support emotional well-being, communication, learning, resilience, and lifelong health. Our consultation focuses on strengthening these everyday relationships by helping families build meaningful interactions that promote connection, confidence, and lasting growth.
Our Commitment to Families
At Thrive Family Collaborative, we believe every child develops in their own unique way and within the context of relationships. We view families as essential partners in the consultation process. Your knowledge of your child, your family's values, culture, routines, and priorities guide every recommendation we make. Rather than offering one-size-fits-all solutions, we work collaboratively to develop individualized strategies that are practical, meaningful, and naturally fit into your everyday life.
Our work is grounded in neurodiversity-affirming, relationship-centered practice. We recognize and celebrate each child's unique strengths, interests, and ways of experiencing the world. We believe every child deserves to be treated with dignity, respect, autonomy, and compassion while being supported in developing meaningful skills that enhance participation, independence, communication, and quality of life.
Above all, our goal is to help caregivers feel informed, confident, and supported. By strengthening relationships, building on strengths, and providing evidence-based guidance, we partner with families to create meaningful opportunities for children—and those who care for them—to thrive.
Questions About Our Services
Explore answers to common questions about our services, our approach, and how we partner with families to support each child's unique development.
What makes Thrive's approach to ABA different?
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is the scientific study of learning and behavior. It focuses on understanding how children learn new skills, communicate their needs, and interact with the world around them. Behavior analysis uses evidence-based strategies to teach meaningful skills, support independence, and improve participation in everyday life.
At Thrive Family Collaborative, we take a compassionate, relationship-centered, trauma-informed, and neurodiversity-affirming approach to behavior analysis. We believe that behavior is a form of communication and that meaningful support begins with understanding the whole child—their development, relationships, environment, strengths, and individual needs.
Rather than focusing solely on reducing challenging behaviors, we prioritize helping children build functional communication, emotional regulation, independence, social participation, and other meaningful life skills. We follow each child's interests and motivation whenever possible, partner closely with caregivers, and develop individualized recommendations that fit naturally into everyday family routines.
Above all, we believe every child deserves to be treated with dignity, respect, autonomy, and compassion.
What ages do you serve?
Thrive Family Collaborative primarily serves infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and young children from birth through 5 years of age. These early years provide a unique opportunity to support development, strengthen caregiver-child relationships, and build skills that have a lasting impact.
While our primary focus is early childhood, we understand that every child and family has unique needs. If your child is older than 5, we encourage you to contact us. We'll be happy to discuss your concerns and determine whether our services are an appropriate fit for your family.
Our clinical experience extends across a broad range of ages and developmental needs.
What areas do you serve?
Thrive Family Collaborative proudly serves families throughout California through secure virtual consultation, making our services accessible regardless of your location.
For families in Humboldt County, consultation packages may include regular in-person services, such as home visits, caregiver coaching, developmental observations, and community or school-based consultations.
For families who are located outisde of Humboldt County, hybrid consultation options may be available. Depending on your family's needs and consultation package, these services can include monthly in-person consultation days, developmental observations, caregiver coaching, or consultation intensives combined with ongoing virtual support.
We encourage you to contact us. Many families can be fully supported through virtual consultation, and we're happy to discuss the service model that best fits your child's needs and your family's goals.
Where do services take place?
Services are designed to be flexible and individualized to meet the unique needs of your child and family. Depending on your consultation package and goals, services may take place:
Virtually through secure telehealth
In your home, where everyday routines and family interactions naturally occur
At your child's school or childcare program, when collaboration and observation are appropriate
In community settings, such as parks, libraries, or other environments that support your child's goals
Because children learn best within their everyday relationships and routines, we strive to provide support in the environments where your child lives, learns, and plays whenever possible.
Whether services are provided virtually, in person, or through a hybrid model, every consultation is individualized to your child's strengths, developmental needs, and your family's priorities.
How many hours are typical?
There is no one-size-fits-all approach to consultation. Every child, family, and situation is unique, so services are individualized based on your goals, your child's needs, and the level of support that feels right for your family.
Some families benefit from a one-time consultation with individualized assessment and recommendations, while others choose ongoing caregiver coaching, developmental consultation, or periodic observations over several weeks or months. As your child's needs change, services can be adjusted to provide the right level of support.
Our goal is not to create long-term dependence on services, but to partner with families in building the knowledge, confidence, and practical strategies needed to support their child's development long after our work together has ended. We strive to equip caregivers with sustainable tools that can be naturally incorporated into everyday life, helping children and families continue to grow and thrive with confidence.

Why do families choose Thrive?
At Thrive Family Collaborative, we recognize that no single approach can fully capture the complexity of a child's development. Every child is unique, and meaningful support requires understanding not only behavior, but also development, relationships, communication, environment, and the strengths each child and family brings.
Our consultation model integrates multiple evidence-based frameworks to provide individualized, relationship-centered support. Rather than relying on one philosophy or intervention model, we thoughtfully combine the best available research with clinical expertise and your family's values and goals.
Our work is informed by:
- Developmental Science and Developmental Systems Theory, recognizing that children's development is influenced by their relationships, environment, biology, and everyday experiences.
- Early Relational Health, emphasizing that nurturing, responsive relationships are the foundation for healthy development, learning, and lifelong well-being.
- Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), using evidence-based behavioral principles to build meaningful skills, promote independence, and support participation in everyday life.
- Naturalistic Developmental Behavioral Interventions (NDBIs), when appropriate, integrating developmental and behavioral strategies into play, routines, and naturally occurring interactions.
- Positive Behavior Support, focusing on understanding the purpose of behavior while creating supportive environments that promote success and meaningful participation.
- Family-Centered Practice, recognizing caregivers as essential partners whose knowledge, values, culture, and priorities guide every recommendation.
- Trauma-Informed Principles, recognizing that children's experiences influence development and emphasizing emotional safety, trust, collaboration, and supportive relationships.
- Neurodiversity-Affirming Practice, honoring each child's unique strengths, communication, learning style, and autonomy while supporting meaningful participation and quality of life.
Rather than asking families to fit into a predetermined program, we tailor our recommendations to fit your child, your family, and your everyday life. Our goal is to help caregivers feel informed, confident, and supported while providing practical strategies that foster connection, development, and meaningful progress long after our work together has ended.
